Pilot Roeselare

Slow tourism hub along the Roeselare-Leie Canal.

Partner: City of Roeselare

Period: January 2026 > June 2029

Objectives:

Development of a thematic slow tourism route through its Krottegem neighbourhood to reveal and connect the city’s industrial heritage in an accessible, authentic and future-oriented way.

The area played a key role in Roeselare’s economic development, with food processing, logistics and manufacturing once flourishing along the Roeselare-Leie Canal. While some iconic sites, such as the Rodenbach brewery, have already been revitalised, many others remain hidden, underused or disconnected. The route aims to make these sites visible and visitable again by creating a coherent narrative and walkable experience. It targets a strategic point along the route: the public space surrounding a former grain silo, itself being transformed into a small museum and viewpoint.
