Partner: Limerick City & County Council
Period: January 2026 > June 2029
Objectives:
Delivery of three editions of a slow tourism food festival in an urban area of Limerick City.
The pilot builds on existing local food and cultural initiatives and reframes them as structured slow tourism demonstrator actions rather than standalone events. Each festival edition will be co-created with local producers, food entrepreneurs, cultural actors and community groups, and will combine curated visitor journeys, tastings, demonstrations and storytelling linked to Limerick’s industrial and social heritage.
Marketing and communications support will be used to promote the festival editions and generate sufficient participation to enable testing of slow tourism behaviours, including visitor dwell time and depth of engagement. The phased delivery across three editions will allow learning, adaptation and refinement over time.
